Cheeseburger cook-off/Margarita contest.

WOW! The 2010 event was more than we expected in terms of attendance. We thank all of you for that. But, unfortunately with a new venue and adding the ability for you to taste the contestant cheeseburgers, we created some logistic nightmares. The good news is we are already working out the issues for 2011. Yes!!!! June 18th 2011 at the Lombardi Club once again and we promise you it will be better, smoother, and you will have information at your fingertips including an information flyer, well trained volunteers, and an information booth for questions. Thanks to all our supporters and sponsors for making 2010 a huge success to help the Northern IL Food Bank achieve their goals. WE CAN’T WAIT!!!

The 5th Annual "Best in Paradise" was a huge success!

Over 1500 people joined in to help their hungry neighbors and support the Northern Illinois Food Bank on Saturday at the American Lombardi Club. This year, $10,000 will be donated to the NIFB, doubling the amount from last year!

"We tripled the attendance and doubled the money", said Julie Christian, Committee Member for the event. "The NIFB provides so many services to so many people, I think people were happy to help and have fun at the same time. We have some kinks to work out since this was our first year at the Lombardi, but this venue could not be more perfect and we could not have asked for a more gracious host. Thanks to our sponsors, teams and volunteers, this year was incredible!"

Hunger is exploding in Northern Illinois, with recent data showing 35% more people using the food pantries and soup kitchens in our area. "For each dollar, eight pounds of food is distributed. That means 80,000 lbs of food will be available to our communities, just from this event," stated Reggie Roberson, Committee Member.

The "Best in Paradise" is a way to bring hunger issues to the attention of the public while supplying funds for the programs of the Northern Illinois Food Bank. For more information please go to www.northernilfoodbank.org.
